If you look up the best beaches and most secluded island Eleuthera pops up! Eleuthera is known as a stunning gem, secluded beaches, diverse natural attractions with Bahamian flare!
Here's a breakdown of some of the best things to do when visiting the island:
Beaches:
Lighthouse Beach:
This is often considered one of Eleuthera's most beautiful beaches. It's located at the southern tip of the island and features pink sands and clear blue waters.
Be prepared for a bit of an adventure to get there, as the roads can be rough.
Ten Bay Beach:
Known for its calm, shallow waters, making it perfect for swimming and relaxing.
The soft, golden sands and shady trees create a tranquil atmosphere.
French Leave Beach:
Another beautiful stretch of pink sand beach, ideal for long walks and enjoying the serene environment.
Surfer's Beach:
A popular spot for surfing, especially when the conditions are right. Even if you're not a surfer, it's worth a visit to watch the waves.
Gaulding Cay Beach:
when the tide is low, you can walk out to Gaulding Cay. This is a very beautiful location.
Natural Attractions:
Glass Window Bridge:
A must-see landmark where the dark blue Atlantic Ocean meets the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. The contrast is breathtaking.
Queen's Baths:
Natural tide pools carved into the rocks, providing a unique place to swim and explore.
Preacher's Cave:
A historic cave that served as a refuge for the Eleutheran Adventurers, the island's first settlers.
Sapphire Blue Hole:
A very beautiful inland blue hole, that is a popular location for swimming.
Leon Levy Native Plant Preserve:
A beautiful preserve showcasing the diverse plant life of the Bahamas, including medicinal plants.
Other Activities:
Exploring the settlements:
Visit towns like Governor's Harbour, Spanish Wells, and Harbour Island to experience the local culture and charm.
Fishing and boating:
Eleuthera offers excellent opportunities for bonefishing, deep-sea fishing, and boat tours. We personally recommend Fishbone Tours in Savannah Sound (ask for Julias told him we sent you!) Fishbone Tours
Snorkeling and diving:
The island's coral reefs are home to a variety of marine life, making it a great place for underwater exploration. Some of the best coral reefs I have found right in front of our cottages!!
When planning your trip, consider renting a car to explore the island's many hidden gems. Eleuthera offers a relaxing and authentic Bahamian experience, away from the crowds of more tourist-heavy destinations.
